I met Andra during the Jetav Flight Academy aviation school courses, where she was preparing to obtain her flight license. She quickly obtained the certificate of cabin membership and was hired as a flight attendant at Volotea, because now she has to change her uniform with the famous red hat and prepare for a new road, to Dubai. Andra tells us below why she thinks she managed to become an Emirates flight attendant and how the Jetav school courses helped her.

1. How and when did you realize you wanted to become a flight attendant? Is it a dream you had since you were a child or did you discover it later?

No, when I was a child I didn't see myself as a flight attendant; I saw myself working in the medical field, that's why after finishing high school I studied Biology at the Faculty of Biology, Bucharest University, and then continued with a master's degree in the same field. I worked as a biologist in various medical analysis laboratories during about 3 years. I really liked what I was doing, I was really happy that I wasn't working in an office, in front of a computer all day and many of those who found out about my job were somewhat surprised by the fact that I "do medical tests". Over time, however, I realized that there were certain aspects that made the balance tilt quite a bit to the negative side. Honestly, I don't know how the thought of becoming a flight attendant came to me, but during this period I met someone who was doing this and he described to me what this job entails, as well as the advantages of the Jetav course. I decided that this job suits me, I then followed this course and after finishing it I went to a Volotea interview held in Bucharest and was accepted for the base in Venice. I flew with this airline for about 6 months and found that I absolutely love this job and see myself doing it for a long time, even my girlfriends tell me it's the first time I haven't I cry about what I do and that I found my vocation.

2. After Volotea, you turned to Emirates. Why?

After the experience I had in Volotea, I decided that I want to do this in the future and the thought of becoming a flight attendant for Emirates has been smiling at me since the Jetav course. It is one of the best companies in the world in many ways. You have the opportunity to travel a lot, discover new cultures and interact with a lot of people. I also really appreciate the advanced training that this company offers you. When we went to the plane at the airport and met the crew from Emirates, I was always fascinated by their presence, by the charm that the stewardesses exuded, but also by their wonderful uniform.

3. What do you think mattered in the interview? What made the difference between you and the other candidates?

I think that the difference between me and the other candidates was the fact that I was already in a foreign country, the fact that I paid a lot of attention to grooming and the fact that I was natural; I didn't try to force things. I also tried to show that I like what I do and that I really want this job.

4. Advice for those who want a career in the field?

Those who want a career in the field should know that we are on the plane primarily for the safety of the passengers, and the trainings are quite difficult and there is a lot to learn. You have to be willing to give up a little on your personal life (you don't have a fixed schedule, flights can be delayed or you can sleep in another city instead of getting home). It's wonderful that you don't have a Monday and that all the time is different, it's not a routine. If you feel like doing this, don't hesitate.

5. Do you think the Jetav Flight Academy course you took helped you?

Yes, it helped me a lot because it was my first contact with the world of aviation. M – helped me get my cabin crew certificate and I easily found a job in the field. M – it also helped to make the conversion course much easier for me and to better understand everything I had to do. I was also helped by Cristina's advice from How to Become a Stewardess, advice not only on grooming, but also tips for interviews, which I took into account every time I participated and succeeded.
